Tim Hortons Weston-super-Mare review: Tried the new branch of the Canadian restaurant – Cameron Jenkins

Somerset’s newest fast food chain has arrived in the form of Canadian restaurant Tim Hortons. The sleek new outlet aims to provide an alternative to popular fast food giants such as McDonald’s or KFC. Somerset Live journalist Cameron Jenkins visited on its opening day to get an idea of what diners can expect.

From signature Timbits, frozen capps, freshly baked donuts and crispy chicken sandwiches from Tim Hortons, there are plenty on offer at the new Weston-super-Mare branch of Tim Hortons.

I was told one of the bestselling items was the large breakfast wrap, which came with a hash brown and drink for just £3.49. We are therefore talking about a very affordable price.

As stated on the website, it is: “A rolled up tortilla filled with a sausage patty, bacon strips, a freshly cracked egg, hash browns and a sauce of your choice .” Next to the potato pancake, it was delicious, but I had to put things into perspective.

Just across the road was a McDonald’s, and upon arriving at Weston Links you are faced with a big question: Tim Hortons or McDonald’s?

Well, let’s look at the price first. Breakfast deals start at £2.99 and stay that way until 11am. My usual large breakfast was £3.49, which was £1.10 less than the rolled up breakfast on the road at McDonalds.

I mean, they’re not worlds apart in terms of quality, they share a lot of similar tastes. However, the price really makes Tim Hortons a winner in this situation.

In addition to breakfast, there are also a host of other sweet foods that you simply won’t find at any other fast food chain.

The assortment of donuts, pancakes and Timbits (little balls created from the center of a donut), really sets it apart.

It’s kind of like Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s having a child, that would be the result. It was however a pleasant experience and I will have to come back to try the lunch menu.

As for the breakfast – a cheap one, no thrills but a nice meal, that’s what you would expect.

Tim Hortons new Weston-super-Mare branch is located at The Poaches Pocket Weston Links, Western-super-mare BS23 3WL.
