Shalom Y’all’s downtown location officially reopens as Lil ‘Shalom next month
After closing for almost two months, the downtown Shalom Y’all location reopens with a new menu and a slightly different name.
Lil ‘Shalom, located on Southwest Alder Street near 12th Avenue, will hold its grand opening on Wednesday, July 7. The newest restaurant in the Sesame Collective family, which includes Mediterranean Exploration Company, Yalla, Bless Your Heart Burger, and a Shalom in Y’all East, now offers a more casual menu as well as take-out for lunch.
Given the pandemic’s restrictions on traditional in-person meals, the shoebox-sized space has made it difficult for business generation. In order to keep this location afloat, Sesame Collective used it as a point of sale for pickup and delivery.
Now with its new identity and makeover, Lil ‘Shalom has a European-inspired standing bar for quick meals during the day. In transition to the evenings, the restaurant will offer full service in the interior and exterior courtyard.
Expect dishes with Mediterranean accents, ranging from kebab platters to an instant noodle homage with Cup O ‘Mejadara, which replaces ramen with lentils and rice. There is also a full drink menu with Turkish coffee for lunch and cocktails in the evening.
To prepare for the official launch early next month, Lil ‘Shalom is hosting a soft opening on Wednesday, June 30.
