Rhein Haus among restaurants keen to accommodate more crowds of hockey fans in downtown Denver – CBS Denver

(CBS4) –As the Colorado Avalanche continue their hunt for the Stanley Cup, downtown Denver is in turmoil. Thousands of fans are expected to attend other watch parties, and restaurants and bars are also eager to welcome throngs of customers again this weekend.

“The past two years have been difficult for us and for everyone in the industry,” explained Francisco Peredia, managing director of Rhein Haus. “And what a great time for that to happen right now and I feel like it’s going to take a certain amount of energy.”

Down the street from Ball Arena and the official Game 2 watch party at the Tivoli Quad on the Auraria campus, Peredia is also bracing for a lot of foot traffic and a watch party at its restaurant.

“We’ll have the projector off, the sound on, over 30 TVs,” he enthused. “You know, just follow the buzz outside and hopefully bring that buzz inside as well.”

Like many downtown restaurants, Rhein Haus will be offering specials for fans who come to watch the game.

“$5 homemade pretzels, $5 Breck beers, $5 Tin Cup shots,” he said, to list a few.

As an Avs fan himself, Peredia said it’s taken a long time for the Avalanche to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals, and it’s a huge opportunity for companies like his.

“People are going to come back, they already are, and this just builds on that and keeps us moving in the right direction,” he said. “Hopefully our neighbors are full too, and we just have an exciting block.”
