Mrs. Icey’s Kitchen and Bar returns March 16 with an updated space and menu

Mrs. Icey’s kitchen and bara restaurant that blends Southern, Caribbean and Cajun influences in its cuisine, is set to relaunch Thursday, March 17, 2022after a three-month hiatus, a spokesperson for the restaurant told What Now Atlanta in an email Wednesday.

Located in Decatur at 1371 Clairmont Rd, Ms. Icey will return with “the same hip, youthful energy that has drawn Atlantans and visitors weekly,” but with a refreshed space and menu “offering a new level of modern sophistication,” the mentioned spokesperson. Details of the renovation were not immediately available at the time of publication.

Now in its fourth year, Ms Icey’s new menu offerings will include red snapper prepared three ways – escovitch style, roasted or steamed with a banana leaf – goat and chicken curry, and jerk steak and chops jerk pork, and fresh ackee and salt fish.

Returning menu items will include the restaurant’s chicken and waffles with homemade praline butter and cornbread served in a hot skillet topped with blueberry jam and bourbon praline butter. It will also serve a newly designed cocktail menu featuring a curated collection of martinis, frozen drinks and more.

Owned and Managed by Hospitality Vets Tasha Cyril, Clive Ruddock, Yusef Walker, Sopeak Pang, Glenn Wilsonand walker sim, Mrs. Icey’s is a black-owned restaurant “originally created to honor the women who inspired the group to come together”. The group is also originally from Atlanta APT. 4B.

Ms. Icey’s first opened in March 2018, during Women’s History Month. The restaurant’s original concept and name is a combination of Sim and Yusef’s late grandmother, “Icelyn Walker”, and each owner’s fondest childhood memories from their New York, St. Lucia backgrounds. , Cambodia and Jamaica.
