Midland Grand Dining Room by Patrick Powell replaces The Gilbert Scott in King’s Cross | Recent news
If you’re wondering what’s been going on with The Gilbert Scott at King’s Cross since it closed in mid-2021, then wonder no more. The restaurant will be reborn as the Midland Grand Dining Room.
It will be led by Chef Patrick Powell who also runs the hotel’s other recently renovated restaurant, Reservation office 1869. This led to a rather dramatic remodeling of an existing dining space inside the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and we should see something quite similar here. It’s an already stunning piece, so it’ll be interesting to see what they do with the space (the same designer from 1869 is in charge of the redesign).
They will keep the bar separate out front (always very handy when you’re in the King’s Cross area) but other than that the details of the new opening are pretty slim.
This is Powell’s fourth time working with Harry Handelsman. The first was at Chiltern Firehouse, then allegra in Stratford and the aforementioned Booking Office 1869. A lucrative partnership therefore.
We will have more news closer to the opening date.
