Local restaurants use new incentives to get people to apply

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG / WECP) – Our area still faces unemployment issues and restaurants now need to get creative to attract more employees. Now restaurants want you to love having a job, with new incentives to apply.

“If we can do something to take care of our people and provide not only a great place to make money, but a great place to grow, develop and learn new things, you will have engaged and energetic people. It makes us better, ”said Paul Schreiner, owner of Texas Roadhouse.

Some restaurants are now moving to a better place to work and earn money. At Texas Roadhouse, a new incentive is the Tuition Reimbursement Program.

“As long as you are employed 90 days prior to this course and it is an accredited university and you earn at least a C or better, you are eligible for this school year’s reimbursement up to $ 5,200 this that year, ”Schreiner said.

At Tiziki’s Mediterranean Café, you get paid leave if you’ve worked for three months.

“Everyone loves paid time. Everyone loves paid vacations and even offering it to part-time workers I think it separates us from the rest of the pack, ”said Bobby Touchton, the local operator of Taziki.

Incentives that the two restaurants hope will set them apart from others in the region. Especially if it can help the students.

“If we can help provide not only a place to work, but also support them in their studies and it will make their days easier, it will help them focus on their studies and we will have a better employee,” Schreiner said. .

One way to deliver and strive for excellence, whether it’s the food being prepared or the smile that brings it to your table.

“To be exceptional, you need exceptional people,” said Touchton.

Touchton said this new incentive has helped attract more employees. Schreiner said their incentive is too new for hourly workers to say if it helped.
